Fluid Dynamics has expanded is capability with welded spiral heat exchangers
Fluid Dynamics now offers welded spiral heat exchangers designed for demanding process duties which may involve fouling, viscous products, slurries and solids-laden fluids.
Unlike conventional designs in which the flow between multiple tubes or channels is divided, a spiral heat exchanger provides a single, continuous flow path for each fluid. The curved/spiral geometry is designed to promote turbulence and wall shear which helps to maintain more consistent thermal performance by resisting deposit build-up.
In a spiral heat exchanger, if fouling starts to restrict the flow, the fluid velocity around the restricted area increases and creates a scrubbing effect which, in turn, helps to dislodge deposits. While no heat exchanger is completely maintenance-free, the characteristics of spiral flow can prolong operation between cleaning cycles.
